National parks are the best choices for campervan holiday destinations. They allow you to be in contact with nature with no driving complications. Also, you will have a lot of park facilities to take advantage of. But keep in mind that you can also create your own itinerary, even including big cities! Here are our favorite recommendations of national parks for van holidays destinations:

1. Yosemite National Park, California

Northeast California. Located in the Sierra Mountains, this park is one of the most desired travel destinations in the US. Prepare yourself for hiking in deep valleys, lush meadows, and waterfalls. Have your camera ready!

2. Glacier National Park, Montana

Western Montana. Located in the Rocky Mountains, next to the Canadian border. The Glacier National Park features 1,583 square miles of wilderness. The main attractions of this campervan holiday destination are ice-covered peaks, valleys, and the must-see Lake McDonald. You will find some small mammals as well!

Be sure to include Hidden Lake’s hiking path in your list, as it is one of the most photogenic spots. Sun Road is an epic scenic drive that spans 50 miles and crosses the Continental Divide.

3. Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Northwest corner of Wyoming. The Yellowstone National Park provides many colorful hot springs, geysers, and mud pots. You can relax a little bit beside the lakes, or hike across mountains and forests. You will find a lot of wildlife as well! Bison, wolves, and bears will be waiting for you.

4. Alta Lakes, Colorado

Southwest Colorado. Located on the opposite side of the Telluride Ski Resort, in Telluride. Alta Lakes includes the Alta Lakes Ghost Town historic structures. You can visit them while experiencing amazing alpine views. Wanting to relax a bit? You can hike and sit by the lakes.

5. Arches National Park, Utah

Center east of Utah, Arches National Park presents mesmerizing red rock formations. This campervan holiday destination features natural sandstone arches, pinnacles, fins, and boulders. You will be amazed by the colors, textures, and landscapes.

6. Grand Canyon Park, Arizona

Northern Arizona. Near fabulous Las Vegas, Grand Canyon National Park is a must-see as it is one of the world’s seven natural wonders. This massive gorge has layers of red rock bands that reveal millions of years of geological history.

The best time to visit the park is definitely around sunrise or sunset. You will experience an incredible view of the landscape! There are several viewpoints to visit: Mather Point, Lipan Point, Desert View Watchtower, and Yavapai Observation Station.
