Spring is without a doubt the best season for visiting national parks. The weather is perfect, you can avoid extremely high temperatures but still enjoy some sun and warmth. Clear skies, bright colors, powerful waterfalls. Visiting national parks during the Spring is an unforgettable experience.

After Winter is over and the snow melts, nature wakes up. Plants and animals begin to appear and enjoy the great landscapes. You too can be part of this incredible setting, and there are a lot of different options for you to choose from.

1. Yosemite National Park, California

The first park you should have on your list is America’s most famous national park. Although it is sensational all year round, late Spring is the best time for waterfalls. Plus, you’ll get to enjoy it without the Summer crowds.

Here you will find creeks, rivers, and lakes, with cascades and epic waterfalls. Everything is at its most powerful during late Spring. You will appreciate some of the tallest waterfalls in North America.

Enjoy quiet hiking trails and don’t forget to visit some of its famous outdoor attractions. These include the Half Dome and the Mirror Lake. Enjoy a spectacular reflection of the majestic granite dome in the valley.

2. Arches National Park, Utah

If you are looking for the best national parks in the Spring, you shouldn’t miss Arches National Park. The temperatures are ideal for hiking in the sun, as there are few rainy days here. You will also enjoy brilliant blue skies.

With a red rock landscape with beautiful desert views, this incredible park boasts the highest density of natural sandstone arches on the planet. There are over 2,000 of them!

Don’t forget to hike the Park Avenue Trail to see the Delicate Arch and take photos during sunset.

3. Saguaro National Park, Arizona

One of the best national parks to visit during spring is Saguaro National Park, as it gets extremely hot most of the year.

The name of the park comes from a giant saguaro cactus forest that stretches across the valley. But this is not all, the park also includes wonderful biodiversity and some plants and animals that are not found in the mountains of Tucson. Blooming wildflowers, like marigolds, red penstemons, and gold Mexican poppies. As well as animals like desert tortoises, deers, black bears, and coyotes, among others. It’s time to explore!

4. Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado

During early Spring you can discover this amazing national park. It has over 30 square miles of massive dunes, the largest on the continent. You can hike, practice some sandboarding or even sled on the sand!

This fun place is perfect to go with the family and have some fun together. You can also take your pet as it is one of America’s best National Parks for dogs!

5. Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Did you know this is the oldest national park in the world? Not only that, it includes half of all the world’s active geysers! Huge and with rich wildlife, there is a lot to enjoy.

Since it’s higher up North, it continues to have snow at the beginning of Spring. So, if you want to take full advantage of its spectacular waterfalls, plan to visit in April or May. The water is melted and tumbles down cliffs and into gorges. This is also the time when Yellowstone’s famous herds of bison have their calving season. Other animals you will find are mosses, grazing on young leaves. Don’t forget the grizzly bears awakening from hibernation!
